Eight Types of Love


Eros

    This is also known as erotic love. It is the most dangerous kind of love because it includes “loss of control”. It is a passionate and intense form of love that results to the arousing of romantic and sexual feelings.   

Philia

      This also known as affectionate love. It is the love of friendship that has no physical attraction. It is said to be dispassionate virtuous love that is free from the intensity of sexual attraction. It involves loyalty among friends.

Storage

    This is also known as familiar love. It has thing to do with kinship and familiarity. It is the natural form of attraction that goes within a family. It is basically the love you feel with your family.

Ludus

   This is also known as the playful love. It is the affection between young lovers. It is what we usually feel in a relationship at a young age. It is often an essential piece for a long term relationship.

Mania

   This is also known as obsessive love. It leads a person to drive a negativity with his/her partner. It is where a person feels obsessed and too much protective to his/her love ones. It involves jealousy of a person. It is wanting to love and be loved to know the self-value.

Pragma

   This is also known as enduring love. It is the type of love that has aged and matured as the time passed by. It involves effort of both parties in a relationship. Married people usually feel this kind of love.

Philautia

  This is also known as self-love in a healthiest form. It is like saying “Me before you” because in this type of love, yourself is your priority. It is knowing and understanding self-worth. It is appreciating and accepting who you are.

Agape

   This is also known as the selfless love. It is the highest and most radical type of love according to the Greeks. It is what we call spiritual love because this type of love is unconditional. It is the love that accepts, forgives and believes for our greater good.
